2. the large brazen vessel, standing on a pedestal, for the ablutions of the Hebrew priests and the washing of the sacrifices, mentioned in the Bible in the descriptions of the Tabernacle and Solomon's Temple.
3. a) Ecclesiastical. the water used in baptizing or the font containing it. b) any spiritually cleansing agency.
